Body Acne
What is body acne? Body acne is very similar to facial acne and it can be a problem for both adults and teenagers alike. You normally find body acne on the back, shoulders, chest, arms, and buttocks. The difference between body acne and facial acne is, body acne is large and usually painful.
Body Acne can at times be more difficult to fight than facial acne. Usually stress and fluctuating hormones, which causes an imbalance, is the cause of body acne. Tight fitting clothes, dirty cell phones, helmets, or backpacks may also trigger the body acne to develop.
Bacteria, oil in the skin, and a build up of dead skin cells may also be the culprits in body acne forming. Taking part in a medicated body scrub 2 – 4 times a week will help to remove the bacteria and dead skin build up and will help to remove the body acne.
There are other body acne treatments available besides just a medicated body scrub. Depending on the severity of the body acne with determine what type of treatment is best for you. Oral antibiotics such as tetracycline or minocycline may help to get rid of the body acne. If oral medications are not for you, you can also use topical treatments such as Retinoid A to fight the body acne.
Before using the Rentinoid A, or any topical medication, make sure you wash the area affected with body acne with a salicylic acid based cleanser. Gently apply the topical medication of your choice to the affected area. Once dry, it is important to prevent dry skin by using alpha hydroxyl acid.
If you would like to avoid over the counter or prescribed medication, there are also natural remedies for fighting body acne. Below are some natural products you can mix together and try:
- 1 teaspoon of calendula oil
- 1 teaspoon of almond
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- 1 – 2 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 drops of tea tree oil
- 1-2 drops of chamomile essential oil
Once combined, massage onto the body acne.
